Starting with the goal of altering a space, I began reflecting on forms, materials, and shapes that might claim ownership of a space. This suspended fiber installation is hand woven with recycled fabric, yarn, stuffing, thread and floral wire, all from the thrift store. It takes its abstracted patterns and forms from growth plates cultivated by the artist in a lab, with various filler forms guided by the material. Organic forms, bacteria, microbes, fungi begin to invade Wilson Hall at North Park University. Don't worry, while they are claiming territory rapidly, these organisms are soft, lovable, and cute.
